Dragon Head

At the end of each dark tunnel exists a light, but for Teru and Ako, the invention of an exit to the surface will lead to a greater, more menacing threat. Once outside, Teru and Ako ought to depend on each other if they are going to survive the trek to Tokyo. But they likewise realize they are not alone in their quest for salvation… “An unforgettable traveling into darkness. ” —Publishers Weekly, STARRED Review

Starting with it is head, a dragon is normally crowned with horns. You may want to draw a pair each on the left and right sides. Before you do that, however, it would be best to profile the entire shape of the head like a funnel or a short trumpet, the narrowing shaft being it is face and snout. The broadest end of this conical structure will be it is head that, if we imagine, will also constitute it is crown of numerous horns. It will also look good that the encirclement of this crown of horns terminates at the sides of it is jaws.

Draw the horns of a dragon’s head straight and diagonal. Experiment on the pattern of horn growth. You may have the longest ones planted at the forehead with a progression of little ones going to the sides, or the other way around.

A dragon’s ears look like wings at the sides of it is head, giving more to the illusion of width to the creature’s head. With the working of the elongated horns, the dragon’s head appears to be frilled.

Dragons have a narrow elongated snout than dinosaurs for spewing fire. In relation to this distinctive ability, draw it is nostrils wide.

Dragons also have thicker brow ridges that protect very big eyes. Because of it is role as a treasure guardian, you may want to make the viewer feel that these eyes could pan to a reasonable lateral distance without moving it is head. In treating the pupils, a lot of dragons have theirs cat-like-a vertical black line, somewhat thickening at the mid-length; others have a dot within a circular outline.

In addition to protruding facial bones, a dragon has unmistakably huge cheekbones, draw him like he was always smiling. This smirk becomes more evident because a short distance underneath these bones curls the edges of the dragon’s mouth.

Remember that a dragon is covered in scales, peculiarly around the neck. The scales are littler or less before and upon reaching the face. Drawing the scales may be tedious as they look like an armor of tiny overlapping metal shields. Because they run in a pattern, draw them the way the impressionists suggest the presence of leaves in a tree: a cluster of the pattern here and there.

The back of the dragon, from it is neck to it is tail, is often lined with dorsal plates, like those of a stegosaurus, or caudal spikes, as those that stand at the end of the said dinosaur’s tail.

Many artists today are leaving the pot-bellied dragon for a shapelier muscular one. The latter has a narrower abdomen and a more massive upper body. The forelimbs are human-like muscles. The hind legs, however, are more avian. Large dragons are many times drawn with their limbs perfectly bent, like a reptile hugging the earth; littler ones have theirs stretched upright like a cockatrice.

Lastly, if you ought to provide wings, make them huge and retain the leathery bat-like quality.

4A realistically horrendous post-apocalyptic tale
By Erisu Kimu
Well, for a while now I was conscious of the ‘Dragon Head’ Manga title and in truth read both volume one and two at the local bookstore. My initial thoughts when it comes to the original volume was that it was captivating and thrilling. It left a good basi impression and by the time I flipped the last page, I wanted more. After a while, volume two was freed in English and I speedily read that too. The result? Same thing, but it was making progress. Then, I checked out the Anime/Manga store and I found volume three. I ended up buying volume one, two and three at the same time and without delay finished reading volume three. It was stimulating to say the least. The main characters Teru and Seto ultimately make it outside of the tunnel to the surface where everything is abandoned and no one is around. It’s still a mystery as to what in truth happened. Many questions are raised here. Is it a nuclear war? A meteor? Some unknown entity? The volume ends as a cliffhanger and the way it was done was great. It builds the right amount of suspense and the realistic future prospects or potentials that are all-too exceptionally bad or displeasing in a circumstance as intense as this. I think it’s unquestionably a good read if you like the post-apocalyptic type thrillers.

4Changes.
By Robert P. Beveridge
Minetaro Mochizuki, Dragon Head vol. 3 (Tokyopop, 1996)

Dragon Head proceeds on it is odd way. We pick up incisively where we left off; the tunnel is collapsing. Teru and Ako manage to escape into the sewer tunnel Teru found, but Nobuo ran off in a dissimilar direction, and may well not have pulled through the collapse. When Teru and Ako in the end get out into the world, however, Teru’s worst fears are confirmed, but that shock of it is blunted by the mystery of a moving shadow Teru and Ako see sporadically; could there be other people? Still bummed out that Mochizuki has swapped in the horror angle for something that’s more evidently a sci-fi tale, but the tale itself is a fine one so far. *** ½

4The narrative in truth takes off in Vol. 3
By Sibelius
Volume #3 of Minetaro Mochizuki’s “Dragon Head” genuinely drives the narrative forward as Teru and Ako in the end make their way out of the underground train tunnel and discovers the devastation of the world above them. The mystery deepens as readers are left to wonder the backstory on what caused the seeming utter destruction of Japan. As a post-apocalyptic tale ‘Dragon Head,’ still manages to captivate and I eagerly look forward to vol. 4. Give this series a chance if you are fascinated in such post-apocalypse fare. The art is magnificent and the story telling is superb. Very much to like here!
