Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece

One of Yamaha’s more mutual and competitory mouthpieces, the 4C will provide a student with a better airflow and a more stable range.

If you play the saxophone, or possibly you want to learn to play, then the mere mention of saxophone mouthpieces may just peak your interest.

I’ll confess right here that the saxophone has always been one of my favored instruments. I in truth like the band music of the late 1920′s and early 1930′s – these guys just got “it” and I listen to this music whenever I can. Especially band leaders like Guy Lombardo, who played for years and always had a bunch of saxophones in most songs. The same goes for Glenn Miller, who employed the saxophone along with other instruments in his band to give rise to one of the most distinguishable sounds even invented – bar none! You genuinely will have to get a CD of either of these widely known and esteemed band leaders and just take an evening to listed. I guarantee – you’ll be astonished and exceedingly satisfied.

Back to the saxophone, in person. If you are veritably fascinated in high quality, free blowing features and a outstanding intonation and, of course, the best quality and rich tone all around the range of the instrument that you play, these are reasons sufficient to buy the very best for your precision instrument. And high precision it is. You wouldn’t believe that even the slightest quality or design defect in the reed or mouthpiece may have a ravaging effect on tonal quality. I’ve had it take place to me after I purchased cheap saxophone mouthpieces. And, I vowed to never let that take place again.

The brand of saxophone that you own genuinely doesn’t matter when it copes to quality accessories. Conn, Selmer Eb, or Yamaha instruments function all the same, if you don’t start out with a quality mouthpiece, then the music won’t have a probability to “get it is voice” no matter of the quality of your saxophone. The mouthpiece and the reed both work together to form that mellow and edgy sound of the saxophone – alto, tenor or baritone sax, the mouthpiece alone may determine the quality of the sounds that you and your audience will hear. And, more importantly, the sounds that your audience will remember.

That being said, it absolutely, in a positive manner stuns me when great saxophone players cheap out and buy grossly inferior saxophone mouthpieces – just for a lousy price break! Then, they wonder why the sounds they listen from those golden, brassy tubes sounds so awful.

Do yourself (and those who listen to you) a huge favor when you shop for saxophone mouthpieces, always buy for the value and the quality of the mouthpiece – you will never regret it!

4Safe choice for beginners
By TC
I am an intermediate adult saxophone student, and started studying with a rental Yamaha YTS23 tenor sax Yamaha YTS23 Tenor Saxophone that came with a 4C mouthpiece. Suffice it to say, your mouthpiece has more to do with how your sax sounds that the horn itself! For the beginning student, it is difficult to try out mouthpieces unless you have a local music store that will grant you to test-drive dissimilar ones. If you or your student gets a prospect to test-drive multiple mouthpieces, you will see that this is true. By the time I purchased my own horn, I had the prospect to try out 6-8 assorted dissimilar mouthpieces and chosen a dissimilar brand that worked better for me, but I am sure I will get other mouthpieces as I evolve as a player. Whether you use it for a short time, or keep it forever, the 4C is a good basic mouthpiece that worked for me and is a heck of a bargain for $20.

5Obvious buy for beginners

I took on Tenor Sax for Jazz Band, but the $2,000 rental instrument came with a horrid mouthpiece (yeah, it’s ridiculous). It felt like I was blowing through a straw, and I could not get any dynamics out of it. But from the moment I put this mouthpiece on, it was so much better. Gives rather a rich tone and it is nice and open; even vibrato is easier.

For a $20 mouthpiece, this thing is stellar. I could get not one thing out of the thing I employed before, but now I may make the instrument speak. I’ll be using this thing until it is time for a professional mouthpiece.

5happy bando

I purchased this mouthpiece for my tenor that I had not played in just over a decade. Was very easy to play and as rusty as I was I think I sounded pretty good! Nice deep sound and happy I didn’t get a more pricey model because this one worked great.
