The Yamaha maple sheer belongs to Yamaha’s esteemed sheer series that likewise include the birch version of the set. The Yamaha maple sheer has had a few make overs for the duration of it’s time, and here we’ll be covering a review of the kit.

An interesting addition to the Yamaha maple sheer is that if you buy the set with an 18″ diameter bass drum, Yamaha also give you a drifting bass drum system. What’s that? It’s basically a mount that lifts the bass drum off the floor slightly, permitting the kick pedal beater to strike the center of the head more easily.

There are a great deal of little holes in the shells too that let air out when the drum is struck. This is meant to get the best sound calibers from each drum by accentuating the decay, tone and original punch. They seem to actually make a noticeable divergence too, so Yamaha’s experimenting has been worthwhile.

The overall sound of these Yamaha maple drums is warm, resonant, but with that extra added bite thanks to the vent holes. It’s a great quality set, perchance not rather as good as the recording habit by Yamaha, but still excellent.
