The bass clarinet is a single-reed woodwind instrument that is a fellow member of the clarinet family. It has a low pitch and has a decent range. Unlike the bass saxophone, which has a few curves, the bass clarinet is a little littler and is straight with the exception of a little curve under the mouthpiece and the curve at the end of the instrument. While it might not be as huge an instrument as the bass saxophone, it still has a significant weight and ordinarily requires the use of a neck strap to help support the instrument while it is being played.

The material that it is made out of is different from the metal that most saxophones are made out of. They are normally made out of African Blackwood, though the less costly versions are often times made out of plastic. Most bass clarinets are oftentimes keyed in B flat, but there are some bass clarinets that exists which are keyed in A and C. The uses for the bass clarinet are also more varied than the bass saxophone.

Not only are bass clarinets employed in jazz, they are also employed in orchestras, marching bands, clarinet choirs and a few other types of bands. The reason why it is more popular could have much to do with the sound the instrument makes. The tones it has are warmer, richer tones that could be more likeable to people than other metallic instruments. In fact, the bass clarinet has increased in popularity since the mid twentieth century as more music calls for it is use. There were a good deal of classical performers at that time who had decisive to take on this peculiar instrument on as their main instrument for their musical career.

More music proceeds to be written that includes the bass clarinet and more humans are choosing to play the instrument because of the sound the instrument creates. The bass clarinet may be reasonably costly when purchased new, but if a young musician chooses this instrument it may be purchased at a used music store where the price is significantly lower. There is also more of a probability for a young person to have the prospect to play the instrument in their school band because the music might not be as highpriced as some. As is true with galore wind instruments, it requires the musician to have good control of their breathing in order to construct the sounds they are looking for.

It takes a good deal of practice, but with time the person will have an posing no difficulty time playing the instrument. The bass clarinet may likewise be more beautiful than the bass saxophone because it is not as fixed in todays – music world as the bass saxophone is. 3“okay” reeds
By J.B.
These are commonly the commended “step-up” reeds for woodwind players. The quality of these reeds are mediocre at best–there are possibly 2 good reeds out of a whole box, even after you adjust them through filing and sanding. When you get a good reed from the box, it may fabricate a great, warm tone, but it’s a rare event. When I basi applied them I thought they were the biggest things on the planet…until I tried other reeds. Vandoren reeds are okay, perchance as a substitute until you may order your favorites. As a step-up, Rico La Voz are better. I’d also commend Rico Grand Concert or Reserve, as well as Gonzales.
