White metals such as silver and palladium mixed with gold gives rise to an alloy known as white gold. As with gold, white gold may be found in any carat measurement up to 21 carats. Basically, the amount of gold is the same but the alloy is different. White gold was in the first place invented as a alternate for platinum.

Traditionally nickel was used in white gold. However, nickel is no longer employed as the studies found that nickel may cause reactions with a lot of people. Initially, white gold rings are electro-plated with another white metal called Rhodium, a metal very much similar to platinum, when they are new. This makes the white gold look whiter since the initial color of white metal is more or less gray. This routine is called rhodium plating. To keep a white gold ring looking new, it must be re-rhodium plated approximately each 12 to 18 months.

White gold men’s wedding bands are growingly usual as they are ofttimes applied to heighten diamonds and other gemstones. However, it is suggested to check with the retailer that the alloy is nickel-free.

Since the white metal is an alloy, it is very hard and durable. Hence it is preferent in the wedding bands by a number of men presently. However, there is an equivalent demand for for less number of things from which only one can be chosen to white gold than the palladium whites which are nickel-free. Many new alloys in the current market rely on manganese additions as the main whitener. Some of these are palladium-free while others are low palladium alloys. Chromium and iron may also be employed as whiteners. However, they tend to be hard and so this makes it more difficult to process. However, most of these alloys are not a good white color and so require rhodium plating, and numerous suffer cracking troubles and tarnishing.

Beautiful, sturdy ring

I have always loved claddagh rings and triskele knots, so when I found a ring with both combined I was SO happy. Got it yesterday and it is a beautifully crafted ring with a lot of stability to it. I will wear this ring each day and am very happy with my purchase!

Awesome Ring! Didn’t leave my finger green like most rings this price would!

I got this for myself because I’m crazy when it comes to my Irish inheritance and at last found a guy worth wearing it with the heart up for! I love it. For the price I was half expecting it to turn my finger green, but I’ve worn it each day for the last 3 months without a problem. I even wash my hands and put lotion on without taking it off. The sizing was dead on. I wear a 6.5 in the winter and a 7 in the summer and it’s a little loose right now (January) like all of my other rings.

The ring arrived promptly on the approximated deliverance date. It was in a cute little red ring box. I was pleased with the packaging.
The ring itself is as described and what you may suppose to get for this price. A simple silver ring, it looks sturdy and it does not bend easily. It’s not perfective though. On my queer ring, the crown is a little off center and the thumbs of the hands are strange and elongated. On the inside of the ring there is a strange crevice, but that can’t be seen when the ring is on. None of these troubles are very noticeably unless you thoroughly question the ring.
I ordered a size too large, so the ring is a little loose on me. Even though it’s a size too big, it’s not uncomfortable. It stays on and looks fine. I would have preferent a littler size, but I’m okay with this one.
Overall, I’m happy with this ring. It’s good quality for the price and distinguishable because it has the Celtic knots on the side. I’ve been looking for a good Claddagh ring, I’m glad I chose this one.
