In this article I will talk about the vantages of sealed and ported subwoofer, what it actually means and which is the best.

First let’s take a look at sealed sub woofers, the sealed subwoofers is wholly sealed.There is no whole for the energy produced inside the box to get out and reinforce the sound in front of the speaker. The energy inside the box is absorbed inside the box and by the box itself.

This cause the box to resonate, with the box resonating you enforce the sound this way. Sound is vibrations, as the sealed subwoofers box resonate (vibrate) it formulate sound, so this means the physical box is constructing sound. This is not as efferent as the ported subwoofer.

The ported subwoofer is a subwoofer with a whole and a pies of pipe. With the energy generated inside the box we use the port of the subwoofer to reinforce the sound in front of the subwoofer. If the subwoofer box is designed in the right way and the path way of the port is perfective you will have a great low frequency responds and will provide good mid-range frequencies as well.

Good absorption is used to absorb the mid frequencies (but not all) inside the subwoofer box to minimize damaging fundamental interaction in the mid range. The responds of the subwoofer box is manipulate by the port size and length so that it compliment the low frequencies.

The port of the subwoofer box also act as a flute like devise, this flute only play low frequencies that reinforce the bass frequencies.
