This BGO 2fer pairs “Shady Grove” and “Solid Silver.” “Solid Silver” is a mediocre reunion album hardly worth a spin, but “Shady Grove” is outstanding 1960′s Bay Area hippie music. Unfortunately, the tapes aren’t in the best shape: there’s distortion on a great deal of tracks, and Nicky Hopkins’ piano is too high in the mix. “Shady Grove” needs to be remastered and remixed, but given the little audience for this band, that’s unlikely. Still, this 2fer gets 4 Stars because it’s less pricey than “Shady Grove” as a single release. BGO is to be commended for not cramming both albums onto a single disc.

a outstanding collection of QMS times gone by and a prospect to relive the golden age of rock and roll,wish i had them on tape from the concerts in 72 and 74 such as the phila and Md mtns concert
