Flutes have been a portion of Native American culture for thousands of years, and it is a tradition that goes on today. The construction material for a Native American flute is wood. Cedar, redwood, and juniper are the preferent selections of wood for making flutes, however, pine is likewise a wood of choice. These softwoods are thought to impart a more mellow, delighting sound to the flute. Harder woods, like cherry may also be used, but then the sound produced is sharper. Unlike the flute played by Western musicians, the Native American flute has no metal elements or reed. Except perhaps for some ornamental embellishments, each percentage of the flute is wood. This type of flute is known as an easy instrument to learn to play. Many musically gifted people may learn to play the flute in just a few hours.

Although the Native American flute may be applied as a ornamental item, there is no reason not to play it. This type of flute is an exceedingly satisfying instrument to learn to play. The Indian flute has a double chamber construction, which contributes to the haunting, engaging music produced.

The plains flute and the woodland flute are considered to be two types of Native American flutes. Very much the same, they may comprise divergences in style or construction. Many Indian flutes have totemic or fetish animals attached to them. Some of these fetish animals are carved right into the body of the flute while others are merely tied on with sinew. Some of the spirit of the peculiar animal is believed to be present in the music of the flute, too. Some of the most ordinary animal fetishes placed on flutes would be a turtle, eagle or hawk. The intimate bear might sit on the end of yet another flute. Each flute becomes a cherished item with a touch of individuality brought forth by the animal fetish.

I think it’s a good value for your collection. As for playing, I have just begun learning the fife and I cannot actually comment on it is quality of playing etc, but for the price it’s a pretty decent gift or collectible.

It arrived very robustly packaged, and in good shape.
