Yamaha Yas

Yamaha’s most recent Air-Surround XTREME scheme delivers outstanding surround sound and includes a powerful, stylish subwoofer for added dynamic bass output. The YAS-71 provides a distinctive Home Theater solution.

I’ve played Yamaha saxophones long before I wrote this Yamaha YAS-23 Review and if you’ve ever played a Yamaha saxophone you know why they’re so standard and trade lots of them. Although I still prefer the sound of a Selmer, but Yamaha saxophones have sure playability element that makes them feel right.

The Yamaha YAS-23 alto saxophone is a highly commended horn for any beginner or even intermediate looking for a good quality, well playing saxophone.

Now the Yamaha YAS-23 isn’t the best model they make, far from it. It’s still a Yamaha even though and there’s a sure amount of integrity and quality this company is known for. Because of this, there are still a lot of comparings that may be made amid the YAS-23 that retails brand new for with regards to $1500 to the models they trade in the $4000 range.

Some of the divergences won’t have a big affect on a player that’s just starting out for various reasons:

Quality

The quality of some of the materials such as tone hole pads, rods, and finish aren’t as good as the professional models but longevity isn’t what the student models are made for. Yes these constituents will wear out a lot sooner but may effortlessly be substituted as necessitated and last for assorted more years and in general speaking, long sufficient for any beginner.

You’ll also observe just by looking at this sax that the quality of the lacquer isn’t as nice, and the keys and rods are silver and not gold.

Also these “cheaper” elements won’t make a noticeable divergence in sound or performance for the beginner to intermediate player.

High F#… Naaa!

Some models have a high F# key but not the Yamaha YAS. Having a high F# may make it more comfortable to play the note, that’s why it was invented. My firstborn sax didn’t have one either and it took a heap of time to give rise to the technique to develop a high F# that was in tune.

When I got a saxophone that did have that key I found it a bit more comfortable to get the note in tune but I’ll argue that I made good betterment while working on my tone and embouchure up there without the high F#, so going without in this case isn’t inevitably a bad thing.

Best thing to Take away from this Yamaha YAS-23 Review… It Just Feels Right!

The Yamaha YAS-23 is much like all other models by this manufacturer and that is they just “feel right”… and that’s very important! You recognise what that means when you undertake playing a great deal of dissimilar makes and models.

Some feel like they were made by somebody who wasn’t a player because of the spacing amongst a great deal of of the notes for example, or the height of a queer side key. These are things that affect our speed and playing comfort… just doesn’t feel right.

Yamaha’s designs seem to have the ease and playability that seems to come more from a player’s perspective… it just feels right!

5Great simple budget system for enclosed rooms
By Dr. Enos
I’ve been searching for a simple budget out of the box home audio solution that had great sound, ease of use and set up, all the connections I necessitated and lastly esthetically delighting and not an eyesore. I looked at all the commended budget 5.1 and 7.1 system (Onkyo is the best deal for full 5.1 systems) and was frustrated by the price and the over engineered complexity of them all. Real surround sound would be cool but in the end I just wanted a simple solution with strong, rich sound and any simulated surround would be nice too. I have a Samsung 630 and love the TV but the sound sucks. This YAS-71 sound bar and sub-woofer genuinely have intensified my home theater experience tremendously. I want to watch all the movies I’ve already seen in HD again now just to listen them in fuller sound. My wife even likes it, I don’t think she’s closely as intimidated by it as much as 5.1 factor systems would.

This unit has 4 audio inputs plus a connector for an ipod dock; 3 of the inputs are digital audio inputs (2 optical, 1 coaxial). 1 RCA audio input. I highly commend using the digital audio inputs to get the best and clearest simulated surround sound. I have a PS3 (my Blu-Ray player), a Toshiba DVD player and my DVR hooked up to the digital inputs and the Yamaha ipod dock hooked up. The ipod dock works well and you may control the ipod to a of extent with the remote, even though the screen on the front of the bar gives you very minimal selective information and control for your ipod. There are times I’d rather just select my ipod manually on the ipod itself. My 3G iphone worked with it as well as a 30 gig ipod. They all sounded great.

I have a very boxy, enclosed little to medium sized living room (12′ x 18′) in an older home and it’s perfective for that environment. At volume level 50 (halfway) it actually fills the room up with rich sound, at the higher levels it gets astoundingly piercing without distortion and blowout. Though If you have a very open or big contemporary living room I wouldn’t commend this system; I’d go with more powerful true surround system where you could space the speakers out to fit the room. This YAS-71 actually works best in a room with specified walls to work off of. I wouldn’t suppose any unfeigned surround sound from the YAS-71 but there are times while looking at 5.1 DVDs and Blu-rays I observe that some sounds in truth feel immersive and you may feel the simulated surround effect. Prices have dropped on these recently, they employed to syndication for $500-$600 and for around $300 this is an special deal.

Positives:
* Easy to set up, there aren’t a bunch of wires to run around your room.
* User friendly. Wife friendly.
* 4 audio inputs (3 digital) plus yamaha ipod connector
* Clear, astoundingly powerful, robust simulated 5.1 sound for such a contained unit.
* Great value for the cash if you may find it at or underneath $300
* Looks nice in front of most HDTVs. It nearly matched my piano finished black Samsung.
* Great for enclosed rooms.

Negatives:
* No onscreen data and controls on your TV screen, data is only on the soundbar screen. This does not have any video passthrough. (this hasn’t been a problem for me though).
* It might not have have all the audio connections you need. Check your setup.
* All the inputs are on the sub woofer, so keep that in mind, you might need longer cables.
* Remote controlling ipod is very minimal.
* ipod dock sold separately ($50-100)
* Not so good for open areas.

Conclusion:
Powerful, clear sound and a good number of inputs for most needs. A simple solution for better home audio. I couldn’t be happier with it.

4Nice Suond…. not rather surround
By BrnFrnld
For living in a little condo and not wanting to run wires everyplace this scheme did the trick. The sound developed out of this is far better then what my TV would ever produce.

The simulated surround sound is just that, simulated. If you have antecedently had any experience with unfeigned surround sound, then you will without delay be capable to tell the difference.

The sub woofer is in truth the receiver where you plug in all of your items, then two wires run from that to the long front speaker so you will have to keep that in mind when you are attempting to layout things as far as wire length goes.

The sound coming from the sub woofer at regular levels is just a light rumble, not that is going to irritate the neighbors. You may adjust the output a little up and down to push more sound out of it which will fetch up the rumble a little bit, but then again, not one thing that would bother the neighbors for the duration of the day.

I would unquestionably commend this unit to an individual who would like a little more sound in a little space without going nuts with wires running all around the room.

The remote is small, but has everything that you need on it to make adjustments from the couch.

I have a Comcast DVR (hooked up optical), a DVD player (hooked up digital coax), and a Wii (hooked up general RCA). There is one more Optical input that is open.

This unit will become my bedroom speaker once I get a house and will get a true 5.1 or 7.1 for the living room.

This is my second Yamaha Speaker scheme and I have been very happy with the brand and will probably go with them next round.

3Decent but not one thing spectacular.
By J. Smith
I actually like all the adjustments that I may make with the subwoofer, surround, and center volumes and the system has actually good bass. However, I’m having disturb getting a real crisp sound out of it (mostly voices) and like every one else said, it’s unquestionably not unfeigned surround, peculiarly in my huge open living room with vaulted ceilings. It seems to work best in combining with the sound from the t.v. but unluckily I can’t get my DirectTV remote to sync with the system so now I have to use 2 remotes, one for the tv and the one for the system. The sound overall is unquestionably better than the t.v. alone but I can’t say that I’m blown away by this thing. I guess it’s pretty good for the price but I was hoping for better. It could be my room too, I’ve got hardwoods, high ceilings and a big open floor plan so there is a lot of sound bouncing around. It might be better suitable for a littler carpeted room.
