Editorial ReviewLike the alphabet blocks in Grandma’s attic, these wooden blocks feature carved letters, imagination scroll borders, and simple ink drawings. Individual blocks feature four sides with colored letters, one side with a number and one side with the effigy and spelling of the object under it, such as an owl or duck. Unlike Grandma’s blocks, however, these are printed with nontoxic, colored ink. And to refrain from demolishing nonrenewable forests, they’re made of basswood that’s cut from industry-owned and managed land in Michigan. Toddlers and preschoolers may use the 27 blocks to make all kinds of imaginative structures and to become intimate with numbers and letters. The set comes with an beautiful and sturdy canvas sack for easy clean up and storage. Each block is a 1.75-inch square. –Gail Hudson

Teacher ReviewIf these classic blocks seem like the kind of toy that has been around forever, that’s because they’re so ceaselessly versatile. Toddlers’ little hands will comprehend them to build their firstborn toppling towers. Stacking will build coordination and manual dexterity. As kids get older, they’ll mimic the sounds the animal on each block specifically makes, and they’ll get started to build larger, more complex structures. Later still, they’ll use the blocks to learn letter and number names and to exercise counting. And when they’re through, you may store the blocks in the attic for the grandchildren! –Trilby Cohen has expended most of the past decade as a indispensable school teacher and reading specialist in north Seattle public schools.

It has always amazed me that a product made in a alien country may cost less than a product made in my own country, for me the United States of America. Even with the cost of labor or manufacturing, shipping and freight, and marketing, I see merchandise from China, and other countries, that cost up to 75% less than similar productions made in the US. Granted, a high majority of the time those imported merchandise are of lesser quality, made with questionable (sometimes hazardous) materials, and dubious labor practices. Is all that sufficient to warrant the redicuously low costs?

Due to various factors, most not so long ago the economic crises (which devised a great deal of dissimilar components in and of itself – assorted of which were noted above), US buyers have been inundated with for less imports. Not only is buying goods for the lowest price a higher priority than quality for most buyers these days, it is a necessary in order to make ends meet. Economic hardships have eradicated a lot of selections from most purchases. More is better, in spite of the quality in these lean times.

Furthermore, the big buying goods venues (WalMart, Costco, Sam’s Club, etc.) and even a of littler ones, have indulged this exercise of cheap imports to maximize profits. Overseas imports fill shipyard cargo containers, airplane pallets, warehouses, store shelves, and ultimately our homes.

On the one hand it is unfeigned American capitalist nature that compels companies to maximize their profits. Likewise, to bend the rules (as mentioned, a lot of overseas business exercises would not be endured in the US) and to exploit alien workforces.

On the other hand it is un-American to take jobs outside the country and concede our industries to go bankrupt. Additionally, littler and independent businesses can not compete with the flood of inferior imports. It seems that while US buyers may spend less (although perhaps not when they have to repurchase productions more often because they wear out faster), little companies and numerous big industries are unable to stay in business. The only ones genuinely getting in front are the huge merchants who sells goods at retail and importers (and these days, numerous are doing their own importing).

Take a look at the labels of the productions you own, the clothes you wear, and even the feed you eat. See where they are made, manufactured, or come from. How a heap of of those labels say, ‘Made in USA’?

After World War II, the market was filled with merchandise labeled ‘Made in Japan’ and ‘Made in Germany.’ It was the Allies’ (mostly US’) way of helping to rebuild the economies of those countries devasted by the war – or I will have to say those countries that lost the war. The same happened with Korea in the 1950s. As those countries became more industrialized, their economies were capable to aid more imports and their marketing suppliers also looked for for less goods abroad. Today the majority of the imported productions come from China – at least here in the US, but I imagine it is the same in a lot of countries.

My wife and I support local businesses as much as possible. We look for merchandise made in the USA. Oftentimes we are genuinely astonished to find such products. Naturally, we compare dissimilar merchandise for quality, quantity, and of course price. There are peculiar products, however, which we buy that are not made in the US, such as Belgian chocolate, English and Mexican Beers, Japanese Sake, etc. But we undertake to buy local and US made merchandise whenever possible. My sentiment is where ever you live, you will have to do the same.

5Blocks – Simple, Educational, Fun!
By A
My one year old and I love his ABC blocks with bag. I stack the blocks and he knocks them down. We spell his name, and point to the dissimilar animal pictures as we sing “Old MacDonald”. Daddy and I even use them to play a type of quasi Scrabble game. I believe we will use his blocks for years to come. With the alphabet, numbers, mathmatical symbols, and animal pictures, uses for them seem to be endless (i.e. stacking, spelling, counting, math, identifying animals). They are also very lasting and may without take the punisment of a toddler. With so numerous toys now necessitating batteries I find the simplicity of ABC blocks, along with their publicity of thinking and coordination (stacking) refreshing.

5A bestloved with all four of my children
By A
My oldest son, now 6 got a set of these blocks as a gift when he turned one. I have four children, and we play with them almost each day.

They are larger than regular ABC blocks. THey have a picture of an animal on one side, letters on two sides, as well as numbers on other sides. You may do so much with these to teach. THey are just plain fun as well! My boys stack them up to race cars through their towers, we use them to spell, motor attainments for my younger children. Alphabetizing achievements for my older ones with the animal names. The children take turns to see who may stack the most.

The blocks are so lasting too. You may hardly tell they have been played with for 5 years! I just got these for a baby shower gift, and various humans asked where I got them because they are so nice.

I commend the bag for the blocks as opposed to the wagon because they are requiring little effort to pick up and toss in a bag rather than putting them back in the wagon.

5The very best block set there is!
By Heather Walton
These ABC blocks by Uncle Goose are the best made blocks you will find anywhere. I looked everyplace to find blocks for my 15 month old. Most are for 3 and up because they are too little and too destructable. Not these blocks! These are 1.75 inches each and have 100% safe paint for babies and up. My 15 month old chews on everything and she was not capable to bite the paint off of these blocks, like she was without apparent effort capable to with most other blocks on the market that I returned! The animal carvings on the blocks are actually nice. They have numbers, A – Z and 27 animals for toddlers to look at. My child loves playing with these and stacking them up then knocking them down. I wanted to be sure she had these blocks for her 1st birthday. You can’t go wrong with this classic toy. It is excellently made and very fun! A ought to have for all children ages 1 and up.
