If your budget may stretch a little over the $200 point then you must consider the Shure Beta 87A which has an even better proximity effect for live singing. Proximity effect refers to the distance your mouth is from the end of the mic so with the Beta 87A you don’t need to “swallow” the mic as much.

Recording Studio Mics

Now for singing in the more controlled recording studio surroundings you will have to take vantage of a huge diaphragm microphone to give you a larger tone and in general much better quality vocal sound.

Still, for well under $200 it’s tough to top the Behringer B2 Pro which is a high quality studio condensor vocal microphone with a big 1″ dual diaphragm.

And did you know that Marshal, the widely known and esteemed guitar amp company makes numerous great microphones as well? They have a outstanding pro studio quality vocal microphone for beneath $200; the MXL.007 which is a big diaphragm stereo condenser microphone giving microphones that cost 3 times as much a good ride for the money.

Functionally worth when it comes to $5, if you’re going to go cheap

This looked well-made at firstborn glimpse only. The main rail had when it comes to 5mm of total curvature, the inner rail had when it comes to 1mm of play, and the end-stop was crooked. The motion is also rough and drifts unless you lock it down. I would only trust it to a few hundredths, getting worse as you approach the terminal length, because of the bowed rail.

If this is typical assemblage quality, the carrying case is (relatively) the best thing in regards to this product. They will have to downgrade the rated accuracy for slack in the rails. It’s probably based on the read-head’s potential on a much better frame.

Those who give this (and other cheap calipers) good reviews may not have used “real” calipers for reference. You can’t know something is “accurate” unless you have a benchmark. I just took a probability on it for simple shop work.

Bad product

I recevied the caliper in a timely manor but it was defective. I sent a email to the provider but never received a reply. At this time I would not buy other productions from them.

Dead on Arrival

Product looked good on arrival, even with a spare battery. Immediately turned out to be junk. The display was erratic, perpetually generating seemingly random numbers and evidently did not read accurately, not even close to the actual dimension. I cleaned the rail with cotton cloth as suggested in the manual but it did not help. It never returned to the introductory zero-gap value. Something in all likelihood faulty with the capacitive sensor. It is heading back to the vendor.
