Sky Band

Same Moon, Same Sky is a never ending möbius strip in time with supernatural events engulfing musicians-both living and dead-who are brought together to settle their unsolved relationships and issues of suicide.

How may I best describe A Utopian Skyline? They’re one of those rare bands that is so fabulously talented, they don’t always get the credit they deserve.

We’ve chosen AUS as a featured band plainly because they do what we love, what we live for – they construct unbelievably good original music. I love them, and so ought to you.

We heard that you’re working on a new album. Is that going to be available soon?

Aaron: We’re doing the Local Anesthetic release show on April 25th at the Coliseum. It’s a fixed release. We’re going to Big Sky Audio , which is a studio based out of Springfield, PA. They’ve done bands like Four Year Strong, Valencia. We feel like we work well in that scene because it’s more of the vibe and the art that we’re doing. We’re doing four songs with them, songs that we’ve been playing live that haven’t been recorded yet.

On Local Anesthetic, how would you say the songs differ from your former album?

Teague: We’ve unquestionably grown into our own style, as opposed to just joining things together in a jam. We’ve grown to what we do now, and what we’re going to do in the future. We’re going to keep growing, too.

A: Elma Moore, on a production basis, had a little more digital sound to it, whereas Local Anesthetic has more analog. Well, it’s not completely analog, but sounds a lot better.

T: It’s unquestionably a more organic sound.

A: Less production, and a little more of what we’re doing. We’re attempting to get that with the new record, a more organic sound. The new record is going to be closely all analog, too. We’re working with Playwork Productions, and they’ve worked with Glassjaw, Saves the Day. The guy who’s mixing us genuinely mixed Lit and all of Sugarcult’s albums. We’re likewise going to be playing a couple Warped Tour dates because of working with them.

As an “experimental” kind of band, do you ever have disturb connecting with a crowd, say at a sports bar?

A: Yeah, we’ve gone through that phase, and we’re finelooking much done with it. We undertake to choose the most beneficial shows for us. We’ve gone through that stage of playing with bands that don’t sound anything like us. There are rare occasions like tonight (the 717 Music Awards) where we’re playing with a bunch of bands that are not one thing like us. We’re friends with most of the bands that are playing tonight, that are from the same area. You have to play with a lot of dissimilar bands just to get your name out there. After you play a lot of show, you may begin to be a little more smart in regards to what shows you’re playing. It’s posing no difficulty to connect with fans that genuinely take pleasure in music, like fans of The Drama Club. They’re fans seem to actually receive pleasure from it. I think their fans didn’t actually latch onto us right away, they had to see us a few times, and that’s the kind of band that we are. We’re attempting to make more of an impression when we play shows now. I think it has a lot to do with persons remembering sure things regarding what you did that night.

Tonia: I think the Millennium Music Conference was a good night for you guys. It was a tough crowd that night, because the audience didn’t seem to be into it and they stood back from a lot of bands, but when you guys went on, they in truth got into it.

A: That’s how it felt. Our fans are more of our friends, really. Our fans may be very outspoken. I feel like once in a while we make other bands uncomfortable. I try to make sure to tell our fans it’s not just when it comes to one band. That’s what we’re in truth about, we’re attempting to support the music scene. That’s one thing that Pennsylvania in truth lacks. If you go to other places, like Baltimore, it’s genuinely different. Around here, it’s like everything’s got to be like cookie-cutter to in truth catch on. We’ve had to be that example where persons are kind of like, “Huh?” But eventually, persons catch on.

Do you have any huge shows coming up?

The CD release show is April 25th. I’m finelooking sure Nightcaps next Friday (March 28) with The Drama Club will be in truth big, because they haven’t played around here in a little while. Playing with The Drama Club is one of our bestloved things. We’re doing a couple Warped Tour dates this summer. We’re playing the Chameleon Club in June with Hierosonic and Negative Space.
